Light has been a major need for mankind even a long time before the stones were rubbed to make fire. Light and sight move together. Sight is useless as long as there is no light. Proper lighting, thus, plays a major role in your environment. Varying from a Rustic chandelier used in earlier times in castles, to modern day energy efficient bulbs, light becomes increasingly essential. Not only does it provide you with the ability to picture objects around you, but also today’s modern lighting through a Cotemporary chandelier and floor level lighting promises to be a superb way to give a beautiful look to your house.
When you are lighting your house, it is better to proceed room by room. The reason for this is that the type of light used in one room may entirely be dissimilar to the other.
• Living room:
Your living room is where you spend most of your time in. It is also the basic room that catches the concentration of the guests who pay you a visit. In a living room, do not use a large central light that will generate large and dark shadows. Keeping a lamp or a task light just beside the area where you normally sit would be a great idea. If you want wall lights and pendants to be set up in in your living room, a place which has ceiling that is not too down would be perfect. As for floor lamps, you can add a few where normally there is a lesser amount of light coming in.
• Bedroom:
Your bedroom may have many purposes other than just providing you with a place to sleep. For the dressing area in your room, you can choose a down lighter that will provide light only to the
dressing place without adhering the lighting of the rest of the room. Bedside lamps and reading lamps on the side tables are a custom.
If your room is not spacious enough to fit in side tables, use small pendant shades on both sides of the bed. As for dressing table, you could use two of slender table lamps placed at each side of the table.
• Kitchen:
For glass cabinets in your kitchen, small halogen lights fitted under them will give a beautiful look.
For a kitchen, a central light is important so that light reaches every corner of the kitchen. Pendants are not advisable to be used if you have a small kitchen. Under wall unit lighting and down lighters work best for kitchens as they will give you a supply of light that is not hindered by any shadows, which would be present with ceiling lights otherwise.
• Bathroom:
A bathroom area must never when it comes to lighting be neglected. Down lights are superb for bathrooms because they will provide appropriate illumination to nearly all the areas of the washroom. Do not use portable lights in a washroom, use ceiling mounted directional lights instead. When you choose shower lights, you should greatly emphasize on their connection. In all, bathroom lighting should be carried out well so that there are minimal risks of electric shocks and hazards.
